Guha threat

Cooch Behar Aug. 18: Agriculture minister Kamal Guha today threatened to move high court even if one of the 144 people arrested by the BSF from New Cooch Behar station on Saturday was found to be an Indian, reports our correspondent.

The residents of a village in Dinhata were picked up on suspicion of being Bangladeshis and handed over to the Government Railway Police and then to the kotwali police station.

Guha said he would go to the village on Friday to confirm the nationality of those arrested. The Forward Bloc leader said: “The villagers had their voter I-cards and ration cards with them. Yet they were arrested. How do they prove they are Indians'”
