Gang of four snatches cash

Four youths snatched Rs 58,000 from a newspaper agent early on Sunday on CR Avenue, in central Calcutta. When the man raised an alarm, two constables patrolling the area borrowed a motorcycle from a passerby and chased them. They managed to pin down two of the youths. The money is yet to be recovered.

Bowbazar police said the snatching took place in front of the CESC office. The goons arrived in a taxi and grabbed the agentís leather bag. Two of them sped away in the taxi. Sujan Sil and Rajesh Halder, of Thakurpukur, were caught by the constables. Their interrogation led to the arrest of Gopal Pradhan from Thakurpukur and mastermind Ram Sharan Ram from Metiabruz. A hunt is on for the taxi driver. The money is with him, the youths revealed.
