Two killed in Gujarat blast

Ahmedabad, Aug. 10: Two persons were killed when a bomb “went off accidentally” in a slum in Danilimada area of the city this evening, reports our correspondent.

The blast around 4.45 pm started a fire which reduced about half-a-dozen hutments to ashes. Two people, Maugi and Sarkarbhai, died on the spot and 24 were injured, three of them seriously. All of them were rag-pickers.

Police said the blast occurred in the jhuggi of one Nanubhai who may have picked up a discarded bomb from the army cantonment and that went off.
