Nayeem for meeting

Syed Nayeemuddin will fly to Delhi from Mumbai on Tuesday to take part in the Union sports ministry’s Dronacharya selection committee meeting. The meeting will be chaired by Ramesh Krishnan. Nayeem, became the first Dronacharya in soccer in 1990-91.

CFC player marched out

In the solitary CFL first division group A match on Monday, George Telegraph got the better of Calcutta Football Club (CFC) 1-0 at Mohun Bagan ground. Ashok Das scored the winner.

Arindam Sarkar of CFC was marched out on charges of hitting a rival player.

School soccer

In the city zone of the Britannia-Anandabazar Cup intra-district school football tournament, Kendpukur High School and Vivekananda Pallikishore Bharati High School beat Burdwan Bhita Institution and Chandra High School by identical 3-1 margins.

In another match, Santipur Hindu School pipped Siliguri Baradakanta Vidyapith 4-3 in tie-breaker.

State ranking TT

The stage 1 state ranking Shiladebi table tennis championships will be held at BTTA Coaching School (based at Rabindra Sarobar Stadium) from August 13 to 17. Entry closes on Saturday.
