Jackson to be back on Aug.24

East Bengal trainer Kevin Jackson returned home to South Africa on Saturday. Debabrata Sarkar, a club office-bearer, said Jackson will be back on August 24.

Meanwhile, East Bengal, at its executive council meeting on Saturday, agreed that they weren’t against releasing Bhaichung Bhutia for a couple of months to play for Perak FC, “if the Fifa regulations allow it,” said an official.

The official also stated that East Bengal have left a proposed celebration for its recent win in Jakarta to its sponsors, the UB Group. “They will decide what they want to do and we have decided to give full co-operation,” said the official.

August 14 has been decided as a tentative date, and UB Group chairman Vijay Mallya is expected. However, according to another official, Swapan Bal, “the dates could be changed” in view of the state government deciding to organise its own felicitation on August 17. The Chief Minister and Mallya are expected to attend.

Rajasthan player red-carded

Ranjit Dey of Rajasthan was marched out by referee Syed Yasmin on a double-booking in their Calcutta Football League First division Group B match versus Muslim Institute on Saturday.

Rajasthan went ahead through a Bappaditya Khanra strike before Ahmed Saidi restored parity through a penalty conversion.
