Player suffers head injury

Tanmoy Adhikari of Southern Samity received a head injury following a collision with a Batore SC striker in the 57th minute of a second division match at the Kalighat ground on Thursday. He was rushed to the SSKM Hospital after receiving some on field treatment. He was released later. The match was abandoned thereafter.

Meanwhile, in a fifth division match, Basudeb Karmakar of Patha Chakra and A. Joseph of Rangers were given marching orders following a scuffle. Patha Chakra won the match 3-0.

Tennis coaching

Forty schools have been selected for a free coaching scheme by Tennis Unlimited. The programme will be taken up in the U-10, 12 and 14 age-groups. Meanwhile, Arkya Mondal will be sent to US for special training.

Veterans TT

About 80 former players will be seen in action in the J.M. Banerjee table tennis meet for veterans, to be held at YMCA (Chowringhee) on Friday. The veterans’ meet will be preceded by an open event, where the likes of Arup Basak and Poulami Ghatak are participating.
