Sunita Rani bags gold

New Delhi: In her first international appearance since coming out clean from the Asian Games doping scandal, long-distance runner Sunita Rani on Wednesday won a gold medal in the World Police Meet in Barcelona. Sunita won the 5000m, according to information reaching here.

The athlete, who had won a gold medal in the women’s 1500m in Busan, will be competing in the 10,000m as well on Thursday.

Bengal end well

Bengal had a good final day at the 9th Federation Cup in Hyderabad on Wednesday. While Manisha Dey stood first in the triple jump, Y. Baladevi broke the meet record in the 20km walk clocking 1hour 43 minutes 60 seconds.

Bobby Aloysius clinched gold in the women’s high jump with a leap of 1.89m to set a new meet record. (PTI)
