Brazilian trainer joins Bagan

Brazilian Robson Mattos de Oliviera took over as Mohun Bagan’s trainer-cum-technical director on Tuesday.

Robson, who is from Campo Grande in Mato Dosul state, is expected to supervise training along with coach Aloke Mukherjee after the Federation Cup. Having served as physical trainer of Brazil’s third division clubs for seven years, Robson said he has been coaching first division side Taveiropus since 2001.

Meanwhile, the Mohun Bagan Day was celebrated at the club premises. The Mohun Bagan Ratna award was posthumously presented to Shibdas Bhaduri, skipper of the epochal 1911 IFA Shield-winning team. Debika Roy, Bhaduri’s great granddaughter, received the award. A couple of exhibition matches were held, one involving top women players and the other featuring former Mohun Bagan greats.
