Bofors scam

New Delhi, July 28: The Supreme Court today permitted the three Hinduja brothers — Srichand, Prakashchand and Gopichand — accused in the Bofors Howitzer gun case to travel abroad together till August 27, reports our legal correspondent.

Trial proceedings in the Bofors case against the Hindujas will start on August 27.

In another development in the case, Britain has frozen a bank account of Ottavio Quattrocchi, the main accused in the payoff scam.

In a communiqué received by the CBI, the British confiscation department informed the bureau that the Italian businessman’s account containing Rs 21 crore had been frozen, highly-placed agency sources said.

The CBI had sent a letter rogatory to the British government seeking the move.
