Haldia hospital ceiling crashes

Midnapore, July 28: A portion of the ceiling of a room adjacent to the operation theatre of the Haldia Subdivisional Hospital collapsed today.

Panic spread and no surgical operations were conducted after the incident. Superintendent . Hawladar said over phone a three-foot-by-four-foot slab of concrete came off the ceiling of the sterilisation room. Fortunately, damage was restricted to furniture.

Sources said most rooms in the hospital, located in one of the busiest industrial zones in the state, were in very bad shape. The sterilisation wing, they added, is only two years old.
