Dutta to undergo surgery

Amal Dutta will undergo bypass surgery (coronary artery bypass grafting) at the Apollo Nursing Home, most likely on Monday. The Ever-Ready coach, who was hospitalised with cardiac complications, had angiography done on Saturday. “He will undergo some more tests tomorrow (Sunday)… unless there’s an emergency, the CABG will be performed on Monday,” informed a doctor attending to Dutta at the CCU.

Prize money for eves

The IFA has decided to introduce winning money for the matches in the women’s league from the forthcoming season. “After the finance committee meeting on Saturday, we have decided to give Rs 500 as prize money to the winning teams,” IFA secretary Subrata Dutta said.

Milan Bithee win

Milan Bithee played with 10 men for the last half-hour of their CFL first division group A match versus Sonali Sibir but still got full points. Bidesh Mondal was sent off for a foul. Sujit Das scored the winner.

School soccer

Calcutta Govt Deaf and Dumb School beat St Peter’s HS 3-0 in the Calcutta Police-organised inter-school football meet match on Saturday. Tollygunge Adarsh Hindi HS got a walkover from Purbachal Vidyaniketan.

Jr basketball

While Rakhee Sangha thrashed Aneek Gosthi 40-3, Barisha had to fight for a 28-27 victory over Dalhousie Institute in their West Bengal Basketball Association (WBBA) junior girls’ league matches on Saturday. Rekha Bose (18) top-scored for Barisha, while Sunanda Hiroo (16) caged most baskets for Dalhousie.
