Calcutta: Team India captain Sourav Ganguly may undertake a recce visit to Australia before the 2003-2004 season gets underway in early October. The purpose, of course, will be to do some ‘homework’ ahead of India’s tour there later this year.
“I don’t have any details… It’s just that the Board president (Jagmohan Dalmiya) recently asked me if I would like to make a (recce) trip to Australia… At the moment, there’s nothing more to it,” Sourav told The Telegraph late Monday, shortly after returning to the city after a day-long visit to Mumbai.
While the Board has, in the past, deputed officials to undertake recce trips, no captain has ever been given that responsibility.
At the moment, though, the visit is nothing more than a possibility.
Besides four Tests, Team India will figure in a tri-series where the other teams are world champions Australia and Zimbabwe.
