LG move to beat the heat

Calcutta, July 14: LG Electronics India has set a turnover target of Rs 930 crore from the sale of air-conditioners in 2004 against Rs 660 crore this year as part of its Plan-2004.

LG Electronics hopes to sell around four lakh air-conditioners in the home segment next year, which will fetch the company Rs 750 crore. The company also expects to earn Rs 180 crore from the commercial segment.

The company plans to clock a turnover of Rs 590 crore by selling three lakh units in the home segment this year. The commercial segment will notch up a turnover of around Rs 70 crore. LG India has reported a Rs 400-crore turnover from air-conditioners in 2002.

Talking to The Telegraph, Salil Kapoor, LG head (sales & marketing, airconditioners), said, the company wants to expand its capacity from the existing four lakh units to five lakh by setting up a new plant in Himachal Pradesh. The company currently has manufacturing units in Guwahati, Noida and Jammu.
