Chennai, July 12 (PTI): Debutants India continued their giant-killing act to make it to the world boys’ (under-19) volleyball championship final at Suphanburi, in Thailand, on Saturday.
In the semi-finals, India thrashed Iran 25-15, 23-25, 25-17, 25-20. They now take on Brazil in the final Sunday, according to information received here. Brazil beat the Czech Republic 25-20, 25-20, 25-19.
“It was a glorious moment for us. We want to return to India as world champions and the trophy,” coach G.E. Sridharan said from Thailand.
“We should have won the match against Iran rather easily. But in the second set, a slight slip caused us problems and we won only in the fourth set,” he said.
“India was trailing after being 11-all in the second set. But from 19-23, we collected two points, making it 23-24,” he said.
