New Delhi, July 12 (PTI): Union urban development minister Ananth Kumar has resigned following his recent appointment as Karnataka BJP chief. Road transport minister B.C. Khanduri will hold Kumarís portfolio temporarily.
President A.P.J. Abdul Kalam accepted Kumarís resignation on the recommendation of Prime Minister A.B. Vajpayee.
Kumar, who represents Bangalore south Lok Sabha seat, quit the Cabinet in keeping with the partyís one-man-one-post principle.
His resignation has fuelled speculation that Vajpayee may undertake a shuffle of his ministry prior to the monsoon session of Parliament starting from July 21.
