Insurance to be launched Monday

The IFA, in association with United Insurance India, has launched an insurance programme for all its registered players, including women footballers. The scheme will come into effect from Monday and is expected to be renewed every year. There is also a possibility that a special block will be marked at Salt Lake Stadium for former internationals and former Santosh Trophy players, near the VVIP block.

Ref. troubled

Players and officials of Dakshin Kalikata Samsad tried to heckle woman referee Chaitali Pal after their fifth division league match against YMCA Wellington Friday. Mounted police had to intervene to save the referee. YMCA Wellington won the match 2-0.

School football

Tinku Mondalís hattrick helped Kharija Beru Bari HS to a 7-1 win over Sitai HS in their Britannia-Anandabazar Cup inter-school meet match in Coochbehar. Uttam Roy (2), Sanjit Roy and Pradip Roy scored the other goals.

State shooting

The 36th state shooting championship will be held at Ichhapur Rifle Club range from July 18-20. The West Bengal State Rifle Association is organising the event.

Felicitations

Bengal swimmers, who won gold medals at sub-junior, junior and senior nationals from 2001-03, will be felicitated by the Bengal Amateur Swimming Association at Netaji Indoor Stadium on Monday.
