Chennai: India continued their winning streak, demolishing Australia 3-0 en route to creating history at the boys (U-19) world volleyball championship in Bangkok Wednesday.
India topped group C, qualifying for the quarter finals. They needed just 65 minutes for their straight games win against the Australians 25-17, 25-17, 25-14.
Coach G.E. Sridharan said “the morale is high after the team’s stupendous performance in the first stage of the world championship, played an attacking game from the beginning.
“There was total co-ordination among the players and the team led all through in all the three sets against the Aussies.
“It is the greatest moment for Indian volleyball. The team’s performance has made the coaches and players of the other teams sit up and I hope, my boys will keep up their momentum,” he said.
In another match, Russia defeated Iran 25-23, 25-23, 25-16. The draw for the quarter finals will be made on Thursday. (PTI)
