Petrol, diesel to cost more

Calcutta, July 7: Petrol will be costlier by Rs 1.75 and diesel Re 1 a litre with the Bengal government jacking up sales tax from July 15.

The government also revealed in the Assembly its decision to cut transport subsidy by 20 per cent, which would yield a saving of about Rs 42 crore. The subsidy now stands at Rs 209 crore.
