Maligaon: L. Romen Singh of St. John’s High School, Imphal outplayed Jibananda Singh of Jawahar Navo Vidyalaya, Pialapool, to finish atop with eight points at the end of the ninth and final round of The Telegraph Schools’ Chess Championship, Guwahati leg, Sunday.
The top five — Romen, Sanjoy Singh, A. Gojen Singh, Rajib Dhar and Priyangshu Saikia — made it to the final round to be played in the city in the first week of August.
