Diptimoy Ghosh: Is Calcutta’s drinking water safe' Can the duration of supply be increased'

At present, we supply water for four hours a day. Our target is to double the duration. The water is of the best quality. The problem arises when it flows through channels. In addition, there is wastage due to leaks in the pipes. Our target is to supply 150 litres of water per head. For this, we have taken up a number of projects, including the Ranikuthi water reservoir, which is likely to be commissioned by December this year.
