Saurav in Indian squad Waterpolo meet Schools meet

l City-based India No. 2 junior snooker player Saurav Kothari is among the three who will form the country’s under-21 team to take part in the world snooker meet in Taupo, New Zealand, from July 15 to 29.

The others in the team are India No. 1 Pankaj Adavni (Bangalore) and No. 3 Aditya Mehta (Mumbai). Saurav’s father, former billiards world champion Manoj Kothari is the coach.

l Eastern Railway and hosts Central Swimming Club beat Calcutta Sports Association (11-2) and YMCA (8-5), respectively, in their Bimal Kumar Chandra invitational waterpolo meet at Azad Hind Bagh Wednesday.

l Dhab Dhabi High School and Chandra HS emerged Howrah and Purulia champions in the Britannia-Anandabazar Cup soccer meet Wednesday. In the respective finals, Dhab Dhabi beat Khudulia PB HS 2, while Chandra HS edged past Kherula CN Vidyamandir 7-6 in sudden death shootout.

WATERPOLO: Bimal K Chandra invitational meet at Azad Hind Bagh — SE Railway vs Central Swimming Club (3pm); Rishra Swimming Club vs ILSS (4pm). Matches over the Central SC course.

FOOTBALL: CFL Super Division — Mohammedan Sporting vs Calcutta Port Trust (Salt Lake), Tollygunge Agragami vs Bhratri Sangha (Rabindra Sarovar). First division Group A: Kalighat vs SAIL (Md. Sp.), Kidderpore vs Howrah Union (SAP-II), Police AC vs Aryan (East Bengal). Matches from 3.30pm.
