Margis clash

Purulia, July 1: Differences between two factions of Ananda Margis led to bloodshed at the cultís headquarters last evening.

Members of a group attacked two Margis from the other at Anandanagar in the Jhalda II block. Three persons with serious injuries had to be rushed to a hospital in Ranchi. Five persons from both groups were arrested.

Trouble erupted when two Margis belonging to the non-Bengali faction, Mohitosh Avadoot, 40, and Vishadinanda Avadoot, 42, and their driver were attacked by a group of about 40 people. Police said it was pre-planned.

Auto driver saves girl

An auto-rickshaw driver saved a girl from committing suicide in Calcutta tonight. Police said Rampreet Sau, around 22-years-old, jumped into the Hooghly from a bridge in the port area. The girl from Chetla was upset over a family dispute.
