Simon and Garfunkel break sound of silence

Los Angeles, June 30: Art Garfunkel has confirmed that he will tour with Paul Simon for the first time since 1994, although details of the itinerary, including British dates, have to be settled.

Their last studio recording together was My Little Town 27 years ago.

The singer said the duo were planning “a few shows” in the autumn, but it is thought that at least 30 concerts have been agreed, including a series at Madison Square Garden, New York, and a venue in Los Angeles.

The shows will start in September, after the current wave of oldies’ tours, which include reunions of Fleetwood Mac, The Doors, Earth Wind and Fire, and Neil Young and Crazy Horse. Tickets are expected to sell out immediately at all venues, generating huge profits for the pair, both 61.

Talk of a tour began in February when they sang at the Grammy Awards in New York before accepting a lifetime achievement award.
