Costner slips the ring on Christine

Los Angeles, June 27 (Reuters): Kevin Costner, who skyrocketed to Hollywood fame in 1990ís Oscar-winning movie Dances with Wolves, has become engaged to longtime girlfriend Christine Baumgartner, the actorís spokesperson said.

Costner, 48, and Baumgartner, 29, met four years ago and have been dating since. A wedding date has not yet been set. The marriage will be Costnerís second and Baumgartnerís first.

Costner made his name in Hollywood in baseball movies like Bull Durham and Field of Dreams, but it was Dances with Wolves that brought him Oscars. He directed and starred in the epic story about former Civil War soldier stationed in the western wilderness where he befriends native American Indians.

The movie won the US film industryís top honour, the Oscar, for best picture that year as well as the best director honour for Costner.

Costnerís recent films include 3000 Miles to Graceland and Dragonfly and his latest film, Open Range, will debut in August. Baumgartner is a businesswoman.
