New Delhi: Tagari Baidya and Bidyapati Rajbhar of Bengal won gold medals on the first day of the 20th national sub-junior swimming championships Thursday.
While Tagari won gold in the 50m butterfly in group III, Bidyapati did it in 100m breast-stroke in group IV.
However, the day was dominated by Maharashtra, with the girls bagging four golds and the boys one.
While Veerdhaval Khade managed gold in the 200m freestyle for boys, Arati Kulkarni (200m free-style), Mihira Khopkar (50m butterfly), Kalyani Basu (50m breast-stroke) and Felenna Mollan (100m breast-stroke) clinched top spots in the girls’ category.
The 50m breast-stroke gold went to Roger Luwang of Manipur.
