Nalco protest

Bhubaneswar, June 17: Trade unions, political parties and employees of the National Aluminium Company (Nalco) today staged a six-hour demonstration against privatisation in front of the aluminium majorís corporate office, reports our correspondent.

Over 500 representatives of various trade unions and parties, including the CPI, CPM and Congress, joined employees of the company in raising slogans against privatisation.

The protesters had assembled at the Biju Patnaik airport yesterday, thinking that some bidders for Nalco were on a flight to the city. However, the information turned out to be false.
