Behrampore, June 14: The district Congress has called a 12-hour bandh on June 20 to protest against the state health department’s inefficiency in tackling the spate of infant deaths in the region, reports our correspondent. Over 40 children have died in the last 20 days after a mystery fever rocked the district several sub-divisions when a mystery fever killed over 40 children.

District Congress chief, Adhir Chowdhury, said here today that the manner in which the health officials had not given any importance to the outbreak. “The health department has not done anything to haul up the guilty doctors on duty,” Chowdhury said. The state health department had issued a show-cause notice to the additional chief medical officer of the district following the deaths.
