Intel to hire more people

Mumbai, June 9: World’s largest chip maker Intel Corp will more than double its manpower in India from the existing 1,110 to 3,000 people by 2005, to tap the potential of information technology (IT) in the country.

“India is one of Intel’s fastest growing sites in the world and is considered as the largest non-manufacturing site outside the US,” said Paul S. Otellini, president and chief operating officer (COO) of Intel Corp.

The company would increase its focus in the non-manufacturing sector, which would be mainly in Intel architecture, including chip, micro-processor and network designs, he added. The manpower allocations would be in sales and marketing, as the company sees a good potential in the country.
