Chennai: Karnataka managed to hold Tripura 1-1 while Goa thrashed Jammu and Kashmir 12-0 in group A on the inaugural day of the 11th women’s national football championship Sunday. In group C, Kerala beat Chandigarh 10-0.
Tripura went into the lead through Ruma Debbarma in the 23rd minute, while Amoolya scored or Karnataka in the 30th minute. The stars in Goa’s big win were Michelle Soares (4), Sharon Fernandes (3), Elwina Miranda (2), Julie D’Silva, Reshma D’Souza and Maria Gomes.
For Kerala Angel Adolphes scored four goals while C. V. Seena and Subitha Poovatta scored a brace each. The other two goals were scored by V. V. Sheeba and T. Sheeja.
Meghalaya apparently are out of the meet because, Tamil Nadu football association secretary J. Fernando said, the team could not get their train bookings.
