Bagan, IT women in final

Mohun Bagan and Income Tax advanced to the championship play-off final of the IFA-organised women’s league in convincing fashion Friday. Mohun Bagan swept aside Nabajanma Sangha 4-0 with goals from Jayanti Bera, Sabita Dhara, Madhumita Das and Noshua Alam. Income Tax beat Jubak Sangha 3-0, Alpana Sil netting a brace and Sayanti Nandy the third.

Peerless knock out George

Peerless saw off George Telegraph 2-0 in the knockout phase of the Tata Steel IFA Shield clusters tournament. Francis scored both goals in the match at Barasat. In a Howrah leg encounter, Railway FC eliminated Bhratri Sangha 4-2 in a penalty shootout. The teams had shared two goals after extra-time. SAIL rode a Mintu Saha brace to a 2-1 win over Barisha in a group E game at Bankra.

CLT meet

The CLT table tennis championships will be held at Rabindra Sarobar Stadium from June 16-18. Competitions will be held in six events — sub-junior boys and girls, cadet boys and girls, nursery boys and girls. The last date for submitting entries is Wednesday.

Rowing meet

South Point B boys beat National High School in a close race on the second day of the second BRC students’ rowing championship.

In the girls’ event, GD Birla edged past Calcutta Girls B by half a length.
