Dabur to serve Lankan tea

New Delhi, June 5: Dabur is entering the tea market. It will be bringing in the Lankan tea brand Dilmah, the main sponsor of the Sri Lankan cricket team.

Dabur will be Dilmah’s exclusive distributor in India.

“Dilmah will be available in select outlets across North and West India. By September this year, it will roll out in the South. By early next year, it will be launched in eastern India,” said Amit Burman, CEO Dabur Food Limited, the 100 per cent subsidiary of Dabur India Limited.

Dilmah is a family owned and managed company based in Sri Lanka. Founder and chairman, Merrill J Fernando, said, “India is the largest consumer of single black tea. So, it is a potentially lucrative market.” However, he added that this is a niche brand and positioned as an upmarket product.
