New Delhi, June 3 (PTI): As the heatwave continued unabated in most parts of the country, the meteorological department today said the onset of southwest monsoon into Kerala is likely to be delayed by five to seven days.
Conditions are favourable for further advancement of the southwest monsoon which is likely to set in over Kerala only around June 8-10, the department said.
“As of May 31, the northern limit of the southwest monsoon was running south of Kerala across Sri Lanka into eastcentral Bay of Bengal,” it said.
The monsoon today covered some more parts of eastcentral Bay of Bengal where there is persistent clouding, the department said.
Conditions are favourable for its further advance into the Northeast in the next two or three days.
