New Delhi, June 3: The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) is likely to release an order by the end of July with clarification on telecom tariff, interconnect user charges, access deficit charges and calling-party-pays regime.
A meeting of Trai officials and telecom operators held here today discussed an interim solution to remove the inconsistencies between long distance operators and the interconnect user charge (IUC) regime ó a payment made by each operator for accepting and delivering a call in otherís network.
For example, if an STD call is made, the charge at the originating and terminating end will be Rs 2 per minute. The charge for carrying the call has been fixed at Rs 1.10 per minute. So, the total charge should be Rs 5.10 per minute, against BSNLís alternative tariff of Rs 4.80 per minute.
