Lucknow, May 28: Five Rashtriya Lok Dal ministers in Uttar Pradesh have reportedly submitted their resignations to the chief minister’s secretariat here.
Last night, RLD general secretary Anil Dubey claimed the resignations of the five ministers — Kokab Hamid, Anuradha Chaudhury, Tejpal Singh, Babulal and Swami Omvesh — had been sent to the chief minister’s secretariat through a “special messenger”.
The ministers had given in their papers to party chief Ajit Singh on May 24, a day before he resigned from the Cabinet.
An RLD spokesman claimed the party was all set to sever ties with the BJP-BSP coalition in the state. He, however, could not say when the party was formally going to communicate its withdrawal of support to the Mayavati government.
“A decision about this will be taken by the legislature party meeting in Lucknow soon and Ajit Singh will attend the meeting.”
The spokesman said that nine party MLAs, kept in Bhopal to guard against possible “poaching”, were expected to return soon.
