Calcutta: Rakhi Sangha won the girls title in the Milo state basketball championship at the club court Thursday. In the final, they defeated South 24 Parganas 46-10. They led 26-7 at half-time.
Poushali Dutta of Rakhi Sangha top-scored with 14 points. Teammate Priyanka Kumari was declared Player of the Tournament.
Rakhi Sangha girls had outplayed Birbhum district 44-27 in Wednesday’s semi-finals, while South 24 Parganas had beaten Calcutta Good Counsel 24-17.
Boys share title
The boys title was shared by Rakhi Sangha and Chetla Park. The organisers decided to declare the finalists as joint champions after an abandonment because of a downpour midway into the match.
In the semi-finals, Rakhi Sangha boys had beaten BBYS 58-40.
