New Delhi, May 10 (PTI): India went down 1-2 to Thailand in the semi-finals of the junior Fed Cup Asia-Oceania zonal qualifying tie in Kuala Lumpur Saturday.
According to information received here, Sanaa Bhambri overcame Nudnida Luangnam 7-5, 7-6 (7/5) to give India the lead. Thailand No. 1 Pichittra Thongdach levelled scores with a 6-1, 6-3 rout of 14-year-old Tara Iyer. In the decisive doubles rubber, Kartiki Bhat and Sanaa lost to Luangnam and Thongdach 6–4, 6-7 (4-7), 2-6.
Meanwhile, Sandeep Kumar and Vishaka Sheoran claimed the boys’ and girls’ under-18 titles, respectively, in the AITA Series meet.
In the under-14 category, Akshay Kohli won the boys’ title and Sweta Kumari captured the girls’ crown, while the boys’ under-12 title went to Subhash Rao.
