Paris: Former French Open champion Michael Chang has been awarded a wild card for this yearís tournament starting on May 26, organisers said on Wednesday.
The American, winner at Roland Garros in 1989, has been invited along with youngsters Richard Gasquet of France and Spainís prodigy Rafael Nadal, who reached the quarter finals in Monte Carlo last month.
Frenchmen Jerome Golmard and Mickael Llodra were also awarded wild cards for the second Grand Slam of the year.
Frenchwomen Amandine Dulon, Tatiana Golovin, Anais Laurendon, Virginie Pichet and Camille Pin have also been handed places in the draw.
Australian Christina Wheeler, courtesy of an agreement between the French and Australian federations, was also awarded a wild card.
