People who stay in a big city are expected to have some knowledge of traffic rules. Stringent action should be taken for smooth running of traffic. Fines should be slapped on jaywalkers not with the aim to fill government coffers but to teach the offender and those watching a lesson they would remember. But if one has to consider the state as a whole, 80 per cent of the intersections have neither zebra crossings, not traffic lights nor cops on duty. In such cases, creating awareness is the only option.
