FCI thrash Khalsa Blues

Food Corporation of India (FCI) whipped Khalsa Blues 3-0 in their BHA first division group A match Wednesday. SAI Training Centre drew 1-1 with BSF North Bengal. J. Singh, Sudhir Minz and Nicodine Nag scored for FCI. Theodore Baa scored for SAI and Vishwavir Singh replied for BSF. The other group A match between BNR and Howrah Union could not be held because of the afternoon shower.

Rennedy stays

Mohun Bagan have retained international midfielder Rennedy Singh for one more season. The Manipuri player had offers from JCT and a few Goan clubs, but opted for the city club, probably to recover a sizeable part of the amount promised to him last season.

Two seeds fall

Two seeds fell by the wayside in the first round of the AITA Super Series tennis championship at Dalhousie Athletic Club. Third seed M. Jeevan lost to Arjun Vaidya 2-6, 4-6, while No. 8 V.V. Anurag went down to D. Biswakarma 3-6, 2-6. S. Poonam Reddy has already moved into the quarter finals with a 6-0, 6-1 win over Porja Paul.

Sourav evening

The CAB has arranged an evening with national skipper Sourav Ganguly at its club house Thursday. The association calls it a ‘pleasant evening with Sourav Ganguly’ and there will be several invitees around for some easy talk-time. Sourav will also be presented with a silver replica of the Eden Gardens.

Collins win big

Lee Collins HS whipped Hare School 10-1 in the Britannia Ananda Bazar Cup football meet. Abhijit Das scored four goals. Dum Dum Kumar Ashutosh thrashed Bharatiya Vidyabhawan 9-0. Cossipur Institute beat Shibtala Adarsh HS 1-0, whjile Kankurgachi Vivekananda beat Park Circus HS 3-1. Three of Park Circus were marched out.
