Shakespeare

Seagull Film Music Series III, on the birth anniversary of William Shakespeare, presents a talk on William Walton's music in Sir Lawrence Olivier’s Richard II at Seagull Arts and Media Resource Centre, 6 pm. Followed by the film. Shakespeare Society of Eastern India presents a seminar on ‘Machiavelli, Shakespeare, Elizabethan and modern drama’, followed by a quiz and a performance by the Shakespeare choir, at Deshbandhu College for Girls, from 10 am.

Sur Bahar presents Metho Surer Arshi, a dance-drama based on Bengal’s folk music, dance and plays, at Madhusudan Mancha from 6.30 pm.

Seminars

German author and photographer Stefan Roemer will deliver a slide-show and lecture on ‘Recent changes of the image and the subject in the so-called institution of art’, at Max Mueller Bhavan, at 6.30 pm. ‘The future of art education at the school level’ and ‘The future of art education at the university level’, at RBU’s Emerald Bower campus, 11.30 am.
