Camp starts

The east-zone wing of the National Cricket Academy started at the Eden Gardens Monday. Sixteen of the 20 participants were present. Chief coach Ashok Malhotra will join Tuesday. Dattatreya Mukherjee and R. Venkatraman looked after proceedings on Day I.

Dr. P. Roy, a doctor of the CAB medical unit was hurt at the Pankaj Gupta Indoor Stadium when the blade of a fan fell on him from the ceiling during the medical check-up of the boys. He required a few stitches.

Thapa hired

Shyam Thapa has been appointed the director of coaching at the Mohun Bagan academy in Durgapur.

BHA league

CCFC and West Bengal Police were locked 0-0 in a BHA Group A league match. In a Group B encounter, Police AC got a walk-over against Shanti Sangha.

State chess

Adway Chowdhury (5.5) led the race at the end of the sixth round of the 31st state junior chess championships at Khudiram Anushilan Kendra.
