Mother turns in killer son

Calcutta, April 21: Debi Adhikary turned in her son, Bapi, to the police on Sunday after he confessed to killing an acquaintance of his close friend.

“How can I forgive my son' My son is alive, but another mother has lost her son for ever,” Debi told the police.

North 24-Parganas police superintendent Basudeb Bag said Bapi, of Duttapukur, and his friend, Tarun Das, murdered autorickshaw driver Mohan Rabi Das of Phoolbagan after Tarun lost his job to the victim.

“His (Tarun’s) employer, Saraswati Singh, sacked him recently and employed another youth of Phoolbagan, Mohan Rabi Das. Since then, Tarun was waiting for revenge,” Bag said. The friends got Mohan drunk before strangling him and burying his body in a field in Duttapukur.
