Five held for Pandya murder

New Delhi, April 8: Ahmedabad police claims to have arrested five persons in connection with the murder of former Gujarat home minister Haren Pandya, who was shot dead outside a park where he was taking his morning walk.

Rehan Abdul Majid, Riyan Abdul Wahid, Munnaur, Mohammed Yunus and Mohammed Pervez were reportedly handed over to the CBI today after being taken into custody a few days ago.

All of them are Ahmedabad residents with terrorist connections, government sources said. According to information available here, a pistol and 30 cartridges were seized from the men.

The CBI will decide tomorrow whether to take the five into their custody or not, sources said.

A CBI team, led by the joint director of special crime division, is already camping in Ahmedabad. Another senior officer will join him tomorrow, sources said.
