Telco sales race to a record

Mumbai, April 8: Tata Engineering and Locomotive Company Ltd (Telco) has recorded total sales of 2,19,860 units (including exports) for the financial year 2002-03. This is the highest ever sales achieved by Telco in a financial year.

The company’s sales grew 20 per cent compared with 1,83,224 units sold in the previous financial year. Telco reported cumulative sales of 1,07,442 commercial vehicles in the domestic market during the period under review, up 30 per cent from 82,564 vehicles sold in the previous fiscal. Heavy and medium commercial vehicles sales for the year stood at 74,323 units and light commercial vehicles at 33,119 units.

The company had sold a record 14,415 units of passenger vehicles during March in the domestic market, its highest ever in a month and a growth of 19 per cent over March 2002.

Cumulative sales for the fiscal closed at 1,04,411 units, a growth of 17.5 per cent breaching the 1,00,000-mark for the first time. Telco sold 8,402 units of Indica in March 2003.
