Couple suicide

Tamluk, April 8: Unable to bear poverty, a couple committed suicide by swallowing pesticide around midnight on Sunday at Jagannathpur village in Mahishadal. Timir Jana, 35, and his wife, Srima, 30, married for eight years, left behind two children.

Police said the couple used to work as daily-wage labourers. For three months, Timir could not go to work as he was paralysed following an illness.

The family’s financial condition deteriorated fast and soon the situation became unbearable for the two, family sources said.
