Bond beckons

Aishwarya Rai may well become 007’s heroine.

An international casting agency is in Mumbai to talk to the leading actress — who is now nursing a fractured foot — to talk to her about the next James Bond project.

Aishwarya’s secretary Hari Singh confirmed the news, but said the agency representatives were in Shirdi now. The talks would have taken place had not the actress met with the accident.

The casting agency team was with Aishwarya on the sets of Khaki in Nashik where the accident occurred.

The team was watching Aishwarya during the rehearsals with actors Amitabh Bachchan and Akshay Kumar.

If the deal works out, Aishwarya will be the first Indian actress to be cast opposite Bond.

Aishwarya already has two foreign projects. She is doing Gurinder Chaddha’s Bride and Prejudice, based on Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, and Roland Joffe’s The Invaders.
