IFA plans preparatory meet for Super Division

IFA will organise a cluster tournament from this season for the preparation of the Super Division and first division teams before the commencement of the League. Eight Super Division and 32 Group A and B teams will take part in the tournament. According to a top IFA official, the tournament will be played in 11 districts.

Meanwhile, the IFA-organised players’ bazar will begin at the SAI from April 9 and it will continue till April 15. Players from 19 districts from the state will practise in two sessions and the city clubs can choose their picks from these players for the League. IFA will provide the lodging facilities of the players chosen by the clubs.

The final phase of the inter-district coaching camp tournament will take place in the city from April 16. Corporate sides will be asked to participate in the IFA Shield starting in the first week of July.

Meanwhile, the AGM of the IFA will take place on April 25 when the new secretaries will be selected. It is likely that present treasuerer Subrata Dutta will replace Ranjit Gupta as one of the secretaries.

Cricket aid for tennis

The CAB will provide super-sopper to the Bengal Tennis Association for the forthcoming Davis Cup match starting Friday. With rains around, the BTA had made a formal request to CAB secretary Bablu Koley for the super sopper.

“We are always willing to help other disciplines in whatever way we can,” the secretary said.

Floodlit final

The final of the CAB Ambar Roy sub-junior cricket tournament will be played under lights at Eden Gardens. The CAB auhthorities informed that the lights will also be put on as and when required for the quarters and semi- finals.

Sub-jr meet

The Chandranath Chatterjee Memorial Cricket Coaching Centre-organised sub-junior meet for the Ambar Roy Memorial Trophy will start Thursday.

Sixteen teams will take part in the tournament to be played at the Gourimata Udyan and Shyam Square. The final, under lights, will take place on April 12.
