BSF shoots cow smugglers

Behrampore, April 1: BSF jawans shot dead two cattle smugglers near the Bangladesh border in the Raninagar police station area of Murshidabad today.

“It was around four in the morning when jawans of the BSF’s 26 Battalion at the Harubhanga outpost spotted a herd of cattle moving towards Bangladesh. They shouted a warning to stay away from the border, but no one paid any heed. The jawans fired five rounds and two men were injured. The rest fled,” said a BSF officer of the battalion. The force seized 44 heads of cattle.

Krishna Mondol, 26, and Babu Mondol, 25, were admitted to the hospital, where they died.
