Aloke U-21 coach

Aloke Mukherjee, assistant coach of the senior national team, has been entrusted with the job of coaching the state squad in the national under-21 football championship for the M. Dutta Roy Trophy. Balia (UP) will be hosting the meet from May 9-19. Nasir Ahmed will be working with the team too as goalkeeper-coach. A total of 45 probables have been picked.

Bengal dominate

Bengal dominated Day I of the zonal under-25 meet tie against Assam at Eden Gardens. They bowled out the visitors for 135 and knocked off 30 off those by stumps on Friday.

Anandabazar Cup

Lebong Madhyamik Bidyalaya beat Kalimpong HS by the odd goal in three in the Darjeeling leg of the inter-school Anandabazar Cup football meet Friday. St Michael eked out a 1-0 win over Kurseong School in the dayís other fixture.

Kabaddi meet

Bardhaman trounced East Midnapur 49-16 while South 24 Parganas dismissed Birbhum 40-10 in menís matches of the inter-district kabaddi meet Friday. In womenís action, Jalpaiguri edged past Howrah 48-43 and North 24 Parganas beat Bankura 45-25.
