Western Railway best

Western Railway emerged champions in the All India inter-railway women’s cricket meet Thursday. In the final round-robin match played at Eastern Railway Sports Complex, Western Railway beat Eastern Railway by 56 runs. Northern Railway finished runners-up with hosts East taking the third spot.

BRIEF SCORES: Western Railway 166/8 (Sulakshana Nair 34; Krishna Das 3/24). Eastern Railway 110 (Monika Sumra 55; Rima Malhotra 3/15). Western Railway won by 56 runs.

Wari advance

Wari AC moved into the quarter finals of the J.C. Mukherjee Trophy Thursday. In the pre quarter final, they beat Tapan Memorial by 69 runs.

BRIEF SCORES: Wari 330. Tapan Memorial 261 (Avishek Ghosh 3/56). Wari won by 69 runs.

Santosh Trophy

The Santosh Trophy for the forthcoming season will take place in April next year. That means the meet will not be held this year. Initially, the tournament was supposed to take place in October, but the AIFF has decided to push it back after the end of National League in April. Meanwhile, according to fixture, the National Football League will start on November 15 in the coming season.

Beighton Cup

CRPF and Army XI moved into the quarter finals of the 108th Beighton Cup Thursday. While CRPF overcame a spirited challenge from All India Port to win 7-6 in the tie-breaker, Army XI edged out CISF 3-2 in another tie-breaker.
